Ali Shamkhani, the political advisor to the Iranian leader Ali Khamenei, expressed on Wednesday that the actions of the United States following the recent attack on the Jordanian border are an attempt "to escalate the conflict and destabilize the region."
In a statement on the "X" platform, Shamkhani claimed that Washington's measures post-attack aim "to undermine Iranian peace, elevate the conflict, and disturb the region's stability, which aligns with the White House's strategy," as reported by the "Arab World News Agency."
Late last month, the US military reported the death of three American soldiers and injuries of at least 40 others in a drone strike, loaded with explosives, targeting US forces at a location on the Jordanian-Syrian border. This incident marked the first fatal attack on US troops since the outbreak of the war between Israel and the Hamas movement in the Gaza Strip.
Earlier this month, US President
Joe Biden announced that the US military had conducted a series of strikes on facilities in Iraq and Syria utilized by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and its affiliated armed factions to attack American forces.
The US Central Command stated that American forces bombed over 85 targets using aircraft, including long-range strategic bombers launched from the United States.
