US President reveals Iran's involvement in ceasefire discussions between Israel and Hamas.
On June 10, 2025, US President
Donald Trump announced that Iran is involved in negotiations concerning a potential ceasefire-for-hostages agreement between Israel and Hamas.
During an event at the White House, Trump stated, "Gaza right now is in the midst of a massive negotiation between us and Hamas and Israel, and Iran actually is involved, and we’ll see what’s going to happen with Gaza.
We want to get the hostages back."
Details about Iran’s specific role in these negotiations remain unclear, as the White House has not provided further information following Trump's comments.
Additionally, Iran’s mission to the United Nations did not respond to inquiries requesting clarification on its involvement.
The United States has proposed a 60-day ceasefire that aims to facilitate the return of hostages.
According to the proposal, 28 Israeli hostages would be released within the first week, alongside the return of 1,236 Palestinian prisoners and the remains of 180 deceased Palestinians.
While Israel has indicated its willingness to comply with the proposed terms, Hamas has thus far rejected the plan.
In parallel, discussions are ongoing between the United States and Iran concerning Tehran's nuclear program, further compounding the complex geopolitical landscape surrounding the region.
