The United Nations reports that Iran has expelled nearly half a million Afghan migrants over a 16‑day period, following the imposition of a July 6 deadline for undocumented individuals.

This mass expulsion, the largest forced population movement of the decade, has generated severe strain on aid groups and raised alarms about overcrowded and under-resourced border crossings in Afghanistan.
