Israeli Forces Kill 15-Year-Old Palestinian Boy in West Bank

Israeli Forces Kill 15-Year-Old Palestinian Boy in West Bank

Fahd Zidan Oweis was shot dead by Israeli forces while allegedly throwing stones at cars, according to conflicting reports from both sides.
The Palestinian Authority reported on Friday that a 15-year-old Palestinian boy, Fahd Zidan Oweis, was killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank.

In response, the Israeli army claimed that they had "eliminated a masked terrorist" who had been throwing rocks at Israeli vehicles on a central road.

The incident occurred in Al-Lubban Al-Sharqiyya, in the Nablus governorate, where Oweis was reportedly shot and killed by Israeli forces.

According to the Palestinian Authority's Health Ministry, his body has been withheld.

The Israeli military stated that they conducted a counterterrorism operation in the area and were responsible for eliminating the individual who had endangered lives by throwing rocks at vehicles.

In another incident that took place in Jibiya, north of Ramallah, Palestinians reported that Israeli settlers set fire to a room inside a mosque and torched two cars parked in its courtyard.

Graffiti in Hebrew was also found on the mosque's outer walls.

According to Ibrahim Zibar, an employee at the mosque, the attack occurred shortly after midnight.

Residents described the scene as they inspected the damage: shattered windows, fire damage to carpets and plastic chairs inside the mosque, and the charred remains of two vehicles.

Saber Shalash, a local resident, expressed concern that these attacks are becoming increasingly common in their village.

The Palestinian Ministry of Religious Affairs condemned the attack on the mosque as a "cowardly terrorist act" with no regard for religion or international law.

The Israeli military stated that they searched for the suspects responsible but were unable to locate them.

They also promised an investigation into the incident by the Israeli police.

The recent surge in violence across the occupied West Bank has garnered international condemnation, including from influential rabbis and some settler leaders.

This escalation of attacks has led to increased tensions between Israelis and Palestinians in the region.

According to official figures, over 500,000 Israelis live in settlements across the West Bank, which are considered unlawful under international law.

Since the beginning of the war in Gaza in October 2023, at least 1,072 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli troops or settlers in the West Bank, while at least 46 Israelis have lost their lives in Palestinian attacks or during military operations.
