UAE Rejects Iran's Justification for Attacks on Gulf Countries

The UAE categorically rejects Iran's attempts to justify its attacks against the Emirates and other Gulf countries.
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has firmly rejected Iran's attempts to justify its 'terrorist attacks' against the UAE and other Gulf countries.

This stance was expressed by Minister of State Khalifa bin Shaheen Al-Marar during a BRICS Foreign Ministers' Meeting in New Delhi, which included Iran's Abbas Araghchi.Al-Marar emphasized that the UAE rejects 'any allegations or threats targeting its sovereignty, national security, or independent decision-making.' The Emirates News Agency reported his comments.

He further stated that the UAE reserves the right to respond to any threat, allegation, or hostile act, asserting its full sovereign, legal, diplomatic, and military rights. The UAE has been a significant target for Iran, particularly during the height of the US-Israeli conflict with the country.

In recent weeks, Abu Dhabi and Tehran have exchanged intense statements, and Iran has launched further attacks on the UAE and its shipping.

Al-Marar revealed that since the conflict began on February 28th, the UAE's air defenses have intercepted approximately 3,000 drone and missile attacks targeting civilian facilities and critical infrastructure. He stressed that the UAE does not seek protection from others and is fully capable of deterring this unprovoked aggression.

Diplomats from BRICS nations were unable to issue a joint statement following the two-day meeting due to differing views on the situation in the West Asia/Middle East region, as noted by India's closing chair’s statement.Araghchi accused the UAE of being an 'active partner' in the US-Israeli conflict against Iran.

However, he claimed that Iran only targets American military bases and installations, which are unfortunately located on its soil.

UAE officials have recently condemned Iranian statements about the country and maintain their commitment to a political solution to end the ongoing war.Gulf countries and the United States are gathering support at the UN for a draft Security Council resolution to pressure Iran into allowing ships to resume free passage through the Strait of Hormuz.

The closure of this waterway has severely restricted energy exports from the Gulf, which Al-Marar described as an 'act of piracy'.
