In response to mounting concerns over humanitarian conditions in the Gaza Strip, Israel has decided to allow foreign countries to parachute aid directly into the region.

This decision, announced by an Israeli military official and reported by Israeli army radio, is set to take effect on Friday.

The move aims to alleviate the severe shortages that have plagued the Palestinian enclave since March, when Israel imposed a blockade following its conflict with Hamas.

Despite easing restrictions in May, ongoing curbs have prevented unrestricted aid flow, citing fears of materials being diverted to militant groups.

Since then, international agencies like the UNICEF and the World Health Organization have been grappling with the dire situation.

In July alone, UNICEF treated over 5,000 children for acute malnutrition, a condition exacerbated by the blockade.

WHO's Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus described Gaza's condition as 'man-made mass starvation,' underscoring the urgent need for relief efforts.

The latest Israeli stance represents a significant shift in its strategy towards addressing the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, marking an acknowledgment of the international community's calls for more substantial aid access.
