Lebanese Army Dismantles Major Captagon and Crystal Meth Lab in Eastern Lebanon
Forces Raid Facility, Seize Narcotics, and Destroy Tunnel Used for Entry and Equipment Storage
The Lebanese army has taken significant action against drug manufacturing operations in the country.
In a recent operation, military forces raided what they described as one of the largest captagon pill-manufacturing labs discovered to date in Yammoune, located in the Baalbek region of eastern Lebanon.
The operation was initiated after intelligence indicated the presence of a major illicit lab.During the raid, which took place 24 hours before the announcement on Monday, army personnel dismantled the equipment and machinery used for producing captagon pills, weighing approximately 10 tonnes.
Some of this equipment was destroyed on-site.
Additionally, the forces seized a substantial quantity of captagon pills, crystal meth, and other narcotic substances.The lab was further notable for its use of a 300-meter-long tunnel for entry and exit as well as for storing parts of the facility's equipment.
In response, the army used a bulldozer to fill in the tunnel, effectively sealing it off.According to the military statement, no individuals have been named in connection with the lab operation thus far.
However, those responsible are now under investigation.
The seized materials are being held by security agencies as part of this ongoing legal process.
Efforts continue to apprehend all individuals involved in the illicit activities.
