The Palestinian Authority’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has issued a warning regarding the consequences of Israel's decision to place control of the Ibrahimi Mosque, also known as the Cave of the Patriarchs, under the jurisdiction of an Israeli settler council.

According to the ministry, this move is seen as an attempt by Israel to exert control over the mosque, alter its religious significance, and violate international law.

The transfer of management from the Hebron municipality to the Kiryat Arba settlement council has been described as 'an unprecedented move' by the Palestinian Authority.

The UNESCO designation of the Ibrahimi Mosque as a World Heritage site in 2017 is said to be under threat by this decision.

Mayor of Hebron, Tayseer Abu Sneineh, condemned the decision, emphasizing that it constitutes an assault on the historical and cultural heritage of the city.

The Israeli Civil Administration's actions regarding the Ibrahimi Mosque have been criticized as violating international law and Palestinian sovereignty since the occupation in 1967.
