Mossad head David Barnea highlights intelligence acquisition and operational capabilities in the agency's campaigns against Iran and Hezbollah.
The head of Israel’s Mossad, David Barnea, has commended the spy agency’s significant contributions to the country’s military efforts against both Iran and Hezbollah.
In a ceremony held at Mossad headquarters on Monday, Barnea emphasized the strategic and tactical intelligence that his agency has successfully extracted from the core of its adversaries' operations.
According to Barnea, Mossad has demonstrated new and groundbreaking operational capabilities in target countries where these conflicts have unfolded.
He also pointed out the collaborative nature of their efforts with the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), highlighting joint undertakings both on defensive and offense initiatives.
The ongoing conflict with Iran began on February 28, involving US-Israeli strikes against Iranian targets.
A temporary ceasefire has since been maintained.
In Lebanon, Hezbollah engaged in hostilities by launching rockets towards Israel on March 2, retaliating for the assassination of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, attributed to both the US and Israel.
US President
Donald Trump had previously declared a ceasefire along the Lebanese front, which has since been prolonged.
Despite this, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu maintains that Hezbollah's rockets and drones continue to pose a significant threat, necessitating ongoing military action from Israel.
Netanyahu also mentioned that Israel is continuing its counter-strike measures in response to perceived breaches of the ceasefire by Hezbollah.
Barnea stressed that the efforts of both the IDF and Mossad have altered Israel’s strategic posture and strengthened national defense capabilities.
However, he asserted that the agency would remain vigilant against any potential threats, promising swift and forceful action when necessary.
