British Surgeon Reports Exclusively Israeli Military Presence in Gaza

Dr. Victoria Rose describes dire healthcare conditions and increasing civilian suffering amid ongoing conflict.
A British surgeon, Dr. Victoria Rose, who has provided medical care in Gaza, reported that the only individuals seen carrying firearms in the region were members of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).

In an interview, Dr. Rose stated that her experience in hospitals revealed a significant absence of armed personnel other than Israeli soldiers.

She highlighted a 'real escalation in the bombing campaign' in Gaza, noting that the civilian population is severely affected and described the situation as leaving them 'on their knees.'

The healthcare facilities, which are protected under international law, have reportedly been targeted by Israeli forces since the onset of the current conflict in October 2023. The IDF, however, maintains that some hospitals have been utilized by Hamas as operational bases.

Dr. Rose expressed skepticism regarding these claims, stating that she had seen no evidence supporting the allegation that hospitals in Gaza served such purposes.

Dr. Rose appeared on the show 'Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips,' where she provided insights into the humanitarian crisis faced by medical personnel and the general population in Gaza.

According to her, the toll on healthcare workers has been catastrophic, with many Palestinian colleagues expressing a desire to no longer endure the ongoing conflict.

The health crisis in Gaza has been exacerbated by a prolonged food shortage, with crucial humanitarian aid being obstructed from entering the enclave by Israeli military actions for several months.

Dr. Rose identified malnutrition as a critical issue, particularly affecting children, and reported soaring infection rates.

She pointed out an increase in preventable deaths among young children suffering from sepsis, highlighting that these fatalities likely would not occur in Western healthcare systems.
