COVID-19: 358 new cases and three deaths reported in Bahrain

Bahrain’s Ministry of Health has announced the detection of 358 new cases of COVID-19 in foreign workers and some from recent arrivals to the kingdom, taking the overall tally up to 48,661.

Health officials said that 123 expatriate workers were detected with the virus in the past 24 hours, 230 others were infected from local contacts of active cases and five travel related.

The total number of tests done so far stands at 1,020,803.

The ministry also confirmed that 538 patients recovered from coronavirus, bringing the total number of recoveries in the country to 45,166 so far.

The latest update revealed that there are currently 75 COVID-19 cases receiving treatment, of which 36 are in a critical condition. Over 3,278 cases are stable out of a total of 3,314 active cases. The total number of discharged recovered cases totals to 45,166.

Third phase


Three new fatalities - two Bahraini women, aged 73 and 81 and a 78-year-old male citizen died from the coronavirus, taking the death toll to 182.

Meanwhile, volunteers willing to take part in the third phase of the COVID-19 Vaccine Clinical Trial may visit the Bahrain International Exhibition and Convention Centre (BIECC), where they can take the vaccine from 08:00 am to 08:00 pm, the Ministry of Health announced.

The move is part of the steps taken within the on-going efforts to contain the novel coronavirus pandemic and limit its spread by stepping up all precautionary and preventive measures to protect the health and safety of everyone.

The ministry revealed that the trial includes up to 6,000 volunteers, over the age of 18, and volunteers who have to undergo a health assessment before enlisting, as per the health requirements set by the approved protocols.
