Hamas Accuses Israel of Involvement in Aid Theft in Gaza

Statements by former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman highlight allegations of Israel's support for criminal factions in the region.
Hamas has articulated strong allegations against Israel following remarks made by former Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

Lieberman claimed that Israel provided 'criminal militias' in the Gaza Strip with weapons, an assertion that Hamas argues exposes Israel's direct involvement in promoting chaos and facilitating the theft of humanitarian aid.

A statement by Hamas indicated that the Israeli military not only engages in violence and destruction but also orchestrates actions to starve the population and facilitate looting through local proxies.

Hamas described these groups as 'cheap tools in the hands of the enemy and a real adversary to our people' and vowed to pursue and hold them accountable.

Hamas further asserted that there is overt coordination between the Israeli military and these collaborating gangs in looting aid and creating humanitarian crises that exacerbate the suffering of the besieged Palestinian population.

They called on the Palestinian populace to remain vigilant against these groups, urging community cooperation with security entities and popular committees to protect societal resources from the infiltration of Israeli forces.

In recent months, both Israeli and international media reports have highlighted the emergence of 'armed criminal groups' operating in Gaza with the cover of the Israeli military.

Lieberman stated that Israel has supplied assault rifles and light weapons to these militias, with orders allegedly given by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Reports from various sources have indicated that organized gangs are actively engaged in looting humanitarian supplies in Gaza and are operating freely in areas controlled by the Israeli military.

Since May 22, the Israeli authorities have allowed only a limited number of trucks carrying aid to enter Gaza, while estimates suggest that at least 500 trucks of relief supplies, including medical and food aid, are needed daily, alongside a minimum of 50 fuel trucks to sustain life.

On May 27, Israel initiated a plan for distributing 'humanitarian aid' via the 'Gaza Humanitarian Foundation,' a body reportedly backed by the United States and Israel, with intentions suggested to relocate Palestinians from the northern Gaza Strip to the south.

Casualty figures from the ongoing conflict indicate that during a recent eight-day period near distribution centers of what are termed 'aid' in southern Gaza, approximately 102 Palestinians have been killed and around 490 injured.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been accused of committing acts of genocide in Gaza through killings, starvation, destruction, and forcible displacement, disregarding international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice to cease these actions.

The Israeli military’s operations have reportedly resulted in around 180,000 Palestinian dead and wounded, a majority of whom are women and children, with over 11,000 missing persons, alongside hundreds of thousands displaced and severe food shortages increasingly claiming lives, including those of children.

Gaza has been under Israeli blockade for 18 years, leaving approximately 1.5 million out of about 2.4 million people in the area homeless after their residences were destroyed during these military operations.
