Intensifying Airstrikes in Yemen as U.S. Forces Target Houthi Positions

U.S. airstrikes escalate in Yemen's Sana'a, with retaliatory actions from Houthi forces in the Red Sea.
U.S. military forces have significantly ramped up airstrikes in Yemen, focusing on Houthi-controlled areas in and around the capital, Sana'a. In recent operations, U.S. forces conducted at least 27 airstrikes across the Sa'dah and Amran Governorates, which included specific strikes on the Harf Sufyan district within Amran.

Furthermore, reports indicated that northern Sana'a was the target of four U.S. airstrikes, alongside strikes in various other locations including Hajjah and Hodeida.

Houthi-affiliated media asserted that the Al-Dailami Air Base, which is situated within the grounds of Sana'a Airport, was among the primary targets of these airstrikes.

Additional assaults were reported in the outskirts of Sana'a, particularly affecting areas such as the Sanhan District.

Two air raids were documented in the Al-Jamimah area of the Bani Hushaish District, while three more struck the Jarban area in Sanhan District.

Multiple airstrikes were also reported in southern Sana'a, indicating a broad and intense campaign by U.S. forces.

In response to the airstrikes, Houthi military officials announced that their forces targeted U.S. naval assets in the Red Sea.

General Yahya Saree, a military spokesperson for the Houthis, confirmed that their operations included strikes against the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, various U.S. warships, and military targets in Israeli-occupied Jaffa.

The Houthi leadership, represented by Mahdi Al-Mashat, expressed a firm stance of solidarity with Gaza and vowed to respond to what they termed U.S. aggression in Yemen.

Al-Mashat emphasized the group's commitment to confront such actions 'at any cost.'

This escalation comes amidst ongoing tensions in the region, intertwining local conflicts with broader geopolitical dynamics, particularly involving U.S. military engagement and Iranian influence in Yemen.
