Iran Launches Major Missile Attack on Israel Amid Escalating Tensions

Attack results in significant casualties and extensive destruction across multiple Israeli cities.
On the evening of June 13, 2025, Iran launched a significant missile attack on Israel, employing dozens or possibly hundreds of ballistic missiles.

This marked one of the most potent Iranian offensives against Israel to date, following an extensive 18-hour Israeli attack on Iranian positions.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard confirmed the strikes targeted numerous sites within Israel, including military installations and air bases.

An Iranian official stated, "There will be no safe place in Israel...

and our retaliation will be painful.

The Zionist enemy will pay a heavy price for killing our leaders, scholars, and citizens."

In contrast, the Israeli government has been reticent about the extent of the damages resulting from the Iranian missile assault.

The Israeli Defense Forces urged civilians not to share locations or videos of the missile impacts, stating that these could be used by the enemy to enhance their offensive capabilities.

The operation has been dubbed "Operation Promised Response 3" by Iranian officials, following two previous operations under similar names executed in April 2024 and October 2024, respectively.

The number of casualties has been gradually reported, with the Israeli Broadcasting Authority confirming that 17 individuals were injured shortly after the missiles hit.

This figure later increased as the Israeli Red Cross reported that 21 injuries had occurred, including two individuals in critical condition.

The casualty count reached 40 as later assessments confirmed more injuries resulting from the missile strikes.

Significant destruction occurred in the Tel Aviv area, with reports indicating that extensive damage affected a large number of buildings and vehicles.

The chief of police for the Tel Aviv district categorized the event as a considerable incident involving multiple sites, with rescue teams working to assist individuals trapped in shelters.

Reports indicated that various types of missiles caused complete structural collapses and severe damage in parts of the city.

Local media reported that nine regions in Israel were targeted by the Iranian missile strikes.

Video footage circulated on various platforms showed thick plumes of smoke rising from central Tel Aviv, accompanied by the sound of sirens throughout the country, including Jerusalem, Haifa, and Be'er Sheva, causing public panic.

The Israeli police confirmed they were responding to multiple locations affected by missile impacts and debris.

Residents were advised to remain in shelters until further notice.

In response to the incoming missiles and drones, Israel activated all air defense systems, including the Iron Dome for short-range threats and other systems designed to intercept ballistic missiles and drones.

Early warnings were issued to residents in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, and surrounding areas, directing them to seek shelter immediately.

Israeli sources stated that they had launched dozens of missiles in an attempt to intercept the incoming Iranian projectiles, with reports indicating that the United States was assisting Israel in these defensive measures.
