Israeli Airstrike Targets Houthi Chief of Staff in Yemen

Military operation aims at key Houthi leader, leaving fate uncertain following injury reports.
On June 14, 2025, the Israeli military executed an airstrike targeting Mohammed Abdul Karim al-Ghamari, the Chief of Staff of the Houthi movement, in Sanaa, Yemen.

This attack marks a significant escalation in the ongoing regional tensions involving Israel and the Houthi forces, who are aligned with Iran.

According to a political source from Israel, al-Ghamari sustained injuries in the strike, but his current condition remains unverified.

The airstrike reportedly took place during a secret assembly of Houthi military leaders in the Hadda area of Sanaa.

Local sources indicated that the explosion caused by the airstrike occurred amidst a meeting involving several senior figures in the Houthi military hierarchy.

Following the explosion, the Houthi group instituted a strict security perimeter to contain information about the incident.

Al-Ghamari, who has held the position of Chief of Staff since December 2016, is recognized as the second most influential leader within the Houthi movement, emphasizing the strategic significance of this attack.

Over the past years, the conflict in Yemen has seen the Houthis frequently engage in military actions, which have included airstrikes targeting Israel, suggesting a possible alignment of military objectives among their regional partners.

The incident comes amid heightened military activities involving the Houthis, including reported collaborative operations with Iran against Israel.

As regional dynamics shift, the implications of this airstrike could influence the ongoing conflict in Yemen and the broader geopolitical landscape in the Middle East.
