Jordan's King Abdullah II Engages with UK Prime Minister on Gaza Crisis

The discussions were reported by the Petra news agency, which indicated that King Abdullah called for increased international efforts to conclude hostilities in Gaza and to ensure humanitarian aid access to the region.
During the meeting, King Abdullah stressed the threats posed by Israeli actions in the occupied West Bank, particularly with regards to the assaults on religious sites significant to both Muslims and Christians in Jerusalem.
He reiterated Jordan's opposition to the displacement of Palestinians, emphasizing the dire need for a unified response to protect their rights and heritage.
Prime Minister Starmer affirmed that the two-state solution remains the sole viable long-term resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
He underlined the importance of collaboration between London and Amman in pushing for a ceasefire and facilitating the uninterrupted flow of humanitarian assistance to those affected in Gaza.
Accompanying King Abdullah on his visit were Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi, Director of the King’s Office Alaa Batayneh, and Jordan’s Ambassador to the UK Manar Dabbas.
Foreign Secretary David Lammy also met with Foreign Minister Safadi as part of the diplomatic discussions aimed at addressing the ongoing turmoil in the region.
