Qatar Engages with Israel and the U.S. to Facilitate Aid to Gaza

Qatari Prime Minister outlines diplomatic efforts regarding Gaza aid, Syrian sanctions, and Iran's nuclear program.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, has stated that Doha is actively working with American and Israeli officials to facilitate the delivery of aid to the Gaza Strip.

In an interview with a prominent media outlet, he discussed efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza, the situation in Syria, and ongoing negotiations regarding Iran's nuclear program.

The Qatari Prime Minister affirmed, 'We have spoken with Israelis and Washington to find a way to deliver aid to Gaza.' He emphasized the importance of humanitarian assistance amid ongoing violence.

Al Thani noted that the recent release of American hostage Aidan Alexander was a result of persistent efforts aimed at achieving a ceasefire.

He expressed Qatar's commitment to negotiating the release of additional hostages held in Gaza, highlighting that over 130 captives have been freed through Qatari mediation over the past year and a half.

'We are hopeful both parties will return to constructive negotiations to end the conflict and enable aid to enter Gaza,' he stated.

Regarding the Syrian context, Al Thani commented on the challenges faced by the new Syrian government, indicating that its ability to progress is severely constrained by existing sanctions.

He underscored Qatar's aspiration to reach an understanding with the United States concerning the lifting of sanctions on the newly established government in Syria.

On the Iranian nuclear deal, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman urged both Iran and the United States to expedite the finalization of an agreement, highlighting that October is a critical month for the UN Security Council to review the situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program.

He pointed out that Iran has accelerated uranium enrichment since the U.S. withdrawal from the nuclear agreement established in 2015, encouraging Iran to pursue a resolution swiftly.
