US President Donald Trump's recent post on Truth Social has raised questions regarding the normalization of relations with Israel, particularly among countries already having peace deals.
Riyadh: US President
Donald Trump stated on Monday that he had requested several nations to join the Abraham Accords in normalizing ties with Israel as part of an agreement with Iran.
The mentioned countries included Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, and Turkey.
Trump asserted that he communicated with leaders from these countries over the weekend, along with the UAE and Bahrain, who had already ratified the accords in 2020 during his first term.
He insisted on mandatorily requesting all nations to sign the Abraham Accords if Iran agreed to a deal with him as President of the United States.
Trump emphasized the extensive efforts made by the US to unite this complex puzzle.
However, his post has sparked numerous questions from pundits, particularly concerning countries like Egypt and Jordan that have previously signed peace agreements with Israel predating the Abraham Accords.
Turkey maintains normal diplomatic ties with Israel.
A Saudi source informed CNN that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would not normalize relations with Israel without a concrete path towards establishing a Palestinian state, reaffirming their longstanding position on this matter.
This stance was also made clear during Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman's visit to Washington in November 2020.
The Crown Prince expressed the desire for Saudi Arabia to be part of the Abraham Accords while ensuring a clear path to a two-state solution.
This announcement by Trump has brought forth a myriad of questions regarding these international relations, and their implications on regional stability.
