Saudi Arabia’s Specialty Coffee Market Set to Surge as Demand Soars and New Exhibition Drops in December

Riyadh’s upcoming International Coffee & Chocolate Exhibition highlights booming café growth and a forecast of nearly 5,350 outlets by 2027
Saudi Arabia’s specialty-coffee sector is experiencing rapid expansion, driven by changing consumer tastes, youthful demographics and supportive government policy — and the momentum appears likely to strengthen through 2027. According to the latest industry data, the country already hosts more than 5,130 branded coffee shops, accounting for nearly half of all outlets across the Middle East and North Africa.

([Comunicaffe International][1])

Market analysts expect this number to continue rising steeply, fuelled by a compound annual growth rate of around 8.2 percent for cafés through 2030. ([The Agrifood Data][2])

The surge in cafés reflects changes in lifestyles and tastes: a youthful population — more than 60 percent under 30 — is embracing modern social spaces, using cafés not only for coffee but as places to work, study, socialise and unwind.

Behind the boom is also the rise of specialty-coffee culture.

While traditional Arabic coffee still plays a central role in Saudi life, consumers are increasingly drawn to premium beans, single-origin brews, cold coffee drinks and artisanal roasting, creating demand for higher-end offerings.

In support of this transformation, the upcoming International Coffee & Chocolate Exhibition 2025 (2–6 December 2025 in Riyadh) is expected to bring together more than 300 local and international exhibitors from over 40 countries.

Organisers say the event will feature roasting demonstrations, tasting sessions, workshops, equipment showcases and networking opportunities — a clear sign of how seriously the Kingdom is treating its role in the global coffee-and-chocolate supply chain.

The growth is also reflected in the broader café-sector valuation: the most recent market report places the Saudi café industry at roughly US$6.14 billion in 2024, with projections reaching nearly US$9.9 billion by 2030. ([The Agrifood Data][2])

Local brands and chains — both Saudi and regional — are expanding rapidly, while international names continue to deepen their presence.

This dynamic has transformed Saudi cities: cafés are no longer mere stops for a quick drink but destinations for community gathering, entrepreneurship, work, and culture.

At the same time, the Kingdom is working to strengthen its coffee value chain.

Increased imports of green beans, growing interest in specialty roasting and rising demand for high-quality beans suggest Saudi Arabia is aiming to become not only a major consumer but also a hub for coffee roasting and distribution in the Middle East.

([Ken Research][5])

With strong consumer demand, a youthful population, evolving tastes, and institutional support, Saudi Arabia’s coffee market appears poised for sustained growth — reshaping both domestic lifestyle culture and the region’s coffee industry landscape.
