Jordan's Minister of Government Communication emphasizes humanitarian assistance and diplomatic support for Palestinians.
Jordan will not participate in any military deployment to the Gaza Strip or occupied West Bank following the current conflict, according to Jordanian Minister of Government Communication Mohammad Momani.
His comments were published by the Jordan Times.
In an appearance on Jordan TV’s "60 Minutes," Momani stated that the kingdom's focus will remain on providing humanitarian assistance aimed at alleviating what he described as large-scale suffering among Palestinians in Gaza.
He stressed Jordan's support for efforts that help Palestinians secure their "legitimate right" to an independent state.
Momani reiterated that while Jordan will not assume any military roles in Gaza and the West Bank, its involvement will be limited to relief efforts and diplomatic support.
His statements came after the announcement of a US-brokered Gaza peace agreement, which includes provisions for an international force to oversee security and enforce the ceasefire in the territory.
Recently, US President
Donald Trump mentioned that multiple regional countries have expressed interest in joining an international transitional force in Gaza.
Momani also criticized Israeli legislative moves seeking to extend Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, calling such efforts a "hostile policy".
He noted international opposition to annexation plans and welcomed US statements signaling that Israel should not proceed.
US President Trump stated that if Israel's parliament passes a bill giving it sovereignty over the West Bank, the US will end its support for Israel.
Israeli lawmakers have granted preliminary approval to a bill imposing sovereignty on the territory, which has drawn condemnation from Jordan and 14 other Arab and Islamic states.
