Gaza Rescuers Report Israeli Forces Kill 14, Including Children

Civil defense agency reports at least 14 deaths in recent Israeli strikes on Gaza Strip.
GAZA CITY, Palestinian Territories: The Gaza civil defense agency has reported that Israeli air strikes and gunfire have resulted in the killing of at least 14 individuals, including three children, within the war-torn Palestinian territory.

According to a spokesperson, named Mahmud Bassal, the casualties occurred across four locations in the Gaza Strip due to Israeli military operations.

An additional fatality was attributed to Israeli fire near an aid distribution center.

The Israeli military has stated that it is currently engaged in efforts to dismantle Hamas's military capabilities as part of its ongoing campaign initiated in 2023.

This campaign was prompted by a Hamas attack on Israel, which led to the current conflict.

The Israeli military emphasized its commitment to countering the militant group's operations.

Due to restrictions on media access within Gaza and the challenges posed by the inability to reach many areas, the news agency AFP is unable to independently verify the accuracy of the casualties and details provided by the rescuers.

Despite these limitations, reports from Gazan sources highlight the tragic impact of these events, particularly affecting civilian populations.

One family in Gaza City's Zeitun neighborhood lost two children in an early morning air strike that left their home completely destroyed.

A member of this family described the chaos and panic following the attack, including the evacuation of over 20 injured individuals, among whom were the two children who lost their lives.

He expressed deep distress at the lack of warning prior to the strike and called it a 'horrific crime'.

Further fatalities were reported in a drone strike on a tent housing displaced people near Khan Yunis, which included one child.

Another casualty occurred when an individual was killed by Israeli fire while waiting for aid near a humanitarian distribution center in Rafah.

In response to these developments, the Israeli military has issued evacuation orders for parts of Gaza City and nearby areas in the north of the territory.

These measures are intended to prepare residents for further military operations, aiming to dismantle terrorist capabilities.

The military spokesperson, Avichay Adraee, urged residents to evacuate south to the Al-Mawasi area on the coast as a precautionary measure.

The Israeli military campaign was launched in October 2023 following a deadly Hamas attack that resulted in significant loss of life, primarily among civilians.

According to official figures from Israel and the health ministry of the Hamas-run territory, at least 56,412 individuals have lost their lives in Gaza as a result of this conflict, with the majority being civilians.

The United Nations considers these figures reliable.

Following a recent victory over Iran in a separate conflict, the Israeli military has stated its intention to refocus efforts on its ongoing campaign in Gaza, where Palestinian militants continue to hold Israeli hostages.

This underscores the complexity and continued volatility of the situation.
