Kuwait's Amir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in a recent address, expressed his commitment to reconsider the suspension of the parliamentary life in Kuwait, which had been halted less than a year ago following the dissolution of the National Assembly and the temporary suspension of some constitutional provisions, with a specified timeframe not exceeding four years.

In a speech delivered during the last days of Ramadan, the Amir described the suspension of certain constitutional articles as a necessary measure to address a critical ailment that had plagued the country’s democratic practice.

He assured that the parliamentary system would be reinstated in a renewed form.

The Amir criticized what he termed as "advocates of division and instigators of discord," who use citizenship issues to mix narratives and spread rumors that aim to disrupt societal unity and create dissatisfaction regarding government decisions related to this topic.

Emphasizing the importance of maintaining national identity, he stated, "There is no national unity without the establishment of identity; the national identity is among our top priorities, serving as a fortress that protects Kuwait against challenges and threats."

The Amir called for patience among the citizens regarding the repair and development of the nation, recognizing that much had been destroyed and that many issues were complicated.

He encouraged citizens to promote love, optimism, tolerance, and understanding while distancing themselves from behaviors that threaten national unity.

He emphasized the importance of safeguarding societies from disasters and maintaining bloodshed while adhering to international norms and treaties, urging a preference for wisdom and reasoning to achieve peace and security.

In acknowledgment of public support for his recent reform decisions, Sheikh Mishal expressed gratitude for the positive responses from the citizens of Kuwait.

He acknowledged the feedback received during meetings and through social media, recognizing it as a demonstration of loyalty and belonging to the nation.

Furthermore, the Amir reiterated that the measures taken were meant to treat a pervasive issue affecting democratic practices and that the intention was to return to these practices in a more robust form.

He addressed the continuous threats to unity posed by those manipulating citizenship issues, affirming the government's resolve to balance firmness regarding national unity and justice in citizenship matters, while ensuring that dealings adhere strictly to the law and avoid political pressures.

The Amir also articulated that Kuwait's historical capabilities have enabled its citizens to overcome challenges and expressed optimism for a bright future, reassuring that developmental projects would progress, promising impactful changes across various sectors including health, education, and housing.

On the international front, Sheikh Mishal reaffirmed Kuwait's commitment to a diplomatic approach in its relations with sisterly and friendly nations, emphasizing a consistent stance on supporting Palestine and maintaining humanitarian support for various countries facing crises.

He reiterated warnings against compromising national unity and highlighted the ever-present risks that call for collective responsibility among citizens to ensure the country’s stability and security.

The Amir called for unity and legal adherence while guarding against disruptive influences, stressing the necessity of collective action to preserve the nation's integrity.
