On Sunday, Israeli air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and central Israel as a ballistic missile, launched by the Iran-backed Houthi rebels from Yemen, approached.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that the Houthis would face a 'heavy price' for the attack, which reached Israeli territory for the first time in its history.

Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Sarea confirmed the use of a new hypersonic missile traveling 2,040 km in under 12 minutes.

Initial reports stated that the missile landed in an open area, but Israeli forces later noted it fragmented in the air, with debris landing near fields and a railway station without causing injuries.

This incident follows repeated rocket and drone assaults by the Houthis since the onset of the Gaza war in October.

Prime Minister Netanyahu hinted at further retaliatory actions, referencing past airstrikes on the port of Hodeidah in Yemen.

Amid the escalating tensions, additional projectiles were reportedly fired towards Israel from Lebanon, but no injuries were recorded.
