Saudi Arabia Leads Regional Condemnation of Israeli Airstrikes in Syria

Israeli military actions in Syria prompt strong responses from Arab nations, highlighting concerns over violations of international law and regional stability.
Saudi Arabia has taken a prominent role in the Arab response to Israeli airstrikes that have allegedly violated the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, leading to significant civilian and military casualties.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned these attacks as attempts to undermine the security and stability of Syria and the broader region, emphasizing that such actions are a breach of international laws.

In a call for action, the Kingdom urged permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to address the ongoing Israeli violations in Syria and to activate accountability mechanisms to respond to these incidents.

The Israeli airstrikes occurred overnight, targeting multiple locations across Syria, including the capital, Damascus, and Hama Airport.

Reports indicate that these strikes resulted in injuries to multiple individuals and contributed to at least 13 fatalities, as well as a ground incursion into Syrian territory.

The recent escalation follows the fall of the Bashar Assad regime, during which Israel has reportedly captured areas within Syria's southern region.

This strategic move appears to be aimed at curtailing the capabilities of the new government forces near its borders.

Egypt also reacted strongly, characterizing the Israeli raids as a blatant violation of international law.

The Egyptian government called upon the international community to compel Israel to cease its occupation of Syrian territory and adhere to the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Meanwhile, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reaffirmed its support for Syria's security and sovereignty, urging Israel to comply with international law and United Nations resolutions that mandate respect for state sovereignty and the non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.

This regional consensus among Arab states reflects a shared concern regarding the implications of Israeli military actions in Syria on regional peace and stability.
