Syria Signs Agreement for Integration of Syrian Democratic Forces into State Institutions

The Syrian presidency announced the signing of an agreement that facilitates the integration of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) into state institutions, emphasizing the commitment to Syrian territorial unity and rejecting division.
This announcement follows a meeting between Syrian President Ahmad al-Shara and SDF Commander Mazloum Abdi.
According to the presidency's statement, the agreement guarantees the rights of all Syrians regarding political representation and participation.
It also outlines a nationwide ceasefire and recognizes the Kurdish community as an integral part of the state, ensuring its citizenship rights under the constitution.
Additionally, the agreement includes provisions for the integration of civilian and military institutions in northeastern Syria within the framework of the Syrian state.
Sources indicate that a convoy from the Syrian Ministry of Defense is set to proceed to Al-Hasakah in coordination with the SDF, with plans for the Ministry of Defense to assume control of prisons currently managed by the SDF.
The SDF, established on October 10, 2015, with U.S. support, was formed in Al-Hasakah to combat the Islamic State.
The group primarily comprises the People's Protection Units (YPG), which is the main Kurdish armed force and the backbone of the SDF.
The force also includes the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), a women’s military wing affiliated with the YPG, along with various Arab and Assyrian factions that have joined to broaden its social and military base, particularly in areas with Arab majorities.
