Saudi Arabia is preparing for the start of Ramadan in 2026, with astronomical calculations indicating that the holy month is likely to begin in mid-February, subject to the official sighting of the crescent moon.

According to preliminary forecasts by regional astronomical centres, the new moon marking the beginning of the Islamic month of Ramadan is expected to occur in the second half of February.

As is customary in the kingdom, the Supreme Court will call on Muslims to observe the crescent moon on the designated evening, with the official start date confirmed only after verified sightings.

If the crescent is sighted as projected, Ramadan 2026 is expected to commence the following day.

Should visibility conditions prevent confirmation, the current month of Sha’ban would complete thirty days before the fasting month begins.
