Explosions Target Buses in Central Israel Amid Suspected Terror Attack

Multiple bus explosions in Bat Yam raise concerns of a planned terrorist act as security measures are heightened.
Multiple explosions occurred on Thursday evening targeting buses in Bat Yam, a city adjacent to Tel Aviv, resulting in significant security concerns.

The Israeli police reported that three explosive devices detonated in what they suspect to be a coordinated terrorist attack.

According to initial police statements, there were available reports of explosive blasts impacting several buses at different locations within the city.

Notably, the buses were empty at the time of the explosions.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was briefed by his military secretary regarding the incidents.

Following the explosions, his office indicated that a security assessment would be conducted shortly to evaluate the situation.

In response to the incident, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz ordered the military to intensify operations in the occupied West Bank.

He cited potential threats from Palestinian organizations against civilians in Israel as the reason for this escalation.

Katz stated that his directives aim to enhance counter-terrorism efforts, particularly in the area of Tulkarm and various refugee camps located in the West Bank.

This development was reported following concerns over increased attempts at violence in the region.

As part of the ongoing investigations, Israel's internal security service, Shin Bet, is examining the details surrounding the incidents.

Police reported five identical explosive devices, which were reportedly equipped with timers, either detonated or were neutralized.

The nature of the explosives indicated that they may have been improvised and potentially linked to sources within the West Bank.

Eyewitness accounts mentioned that the initial explosions created a fire, although no injuries were reported as a direct result.

The explosions are considered highly unusual considering the absence of casualties, and the investigation is focused on determining the involvement of any suspects in this alleged terror attack.

Following the explosions, security measures were heightened across the metropolitan area.

Authorities ordered enhanced inspections of buses operating in Tel Aviv, while two additional explosive devices were neutralized in distinct locations within Bat Yam.

Furthermore, light rail operations in the city were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.

The Israeli police are actively searching for suspects and conducting thorough examinations of suspicious objects found in the vicinity of the blasts.
