Israeli Military Operations Continue on Lebanon Border Amid Ceasefire Tensions

Israeli forces conduct maneuvers in southern Lebanon while Beirut denies allegations of Hezbollah financial transfers through Beirut airport.
The Israeli military has continued its operations along the Lebanon border, with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) claiming to dismantle Hezbollah infrastructure amid ongoing ceasefire tensions.

On Monday, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz visited military positions in southern Lebanon as part of an ongoing assessment of operations.

Israeli forces have conducted strikes on what they describe as weapons storage sites and supply routes, targeting Hezbollah positions.

According to an IDF statement, troops discovered and dismantled weapons caches containing explosives, rockets, and firearms in the border area.

The ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah, brokered through U.S. mediation, has been extended until February 18. However, Israeli forces continue to engage in what they call 'defensive operations' aimed at preventing further threats.

Israeli media reported that some military positions have been withdrawn from western and central parts of southern Lebanon, though the IDF maintains a presence in strategic locations.

Meanwhile, in Beirut, Lebanon's caretaker Interior Minister Bassam Mawlawi denied Israeli claims that Hezbollah has been receiving cash transfers from Iran via Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Mawlawi stated that Lebanese security forces have reinforced inspections at airport checkpoints.

Lebanon’s border with Syria has also been a focal point of security concerns.

Syria’s Ministry of Interior reported on Sunday that its security forces seized a weapons shipment in the Talkalakh area of Homs, allegedly intended for transport into Lebanon.

As regional tensions persist, the IDF has issued warnings to Israeli civilians to avoid areas where increased military activity is expected.

The situation along the border remains tense, with ongoing security operations and diplomatic efforts to maintain stability.
