Iran Signals Readiness to Defend Against Regional Threats Amid Rising Tensions

Iranian military officials assert their preparedness, linking national security to regional stability and warning of potential consequences for adversaries.
Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, issued a stark warning on Wednesday regarding the implications for regional security should Iran be threatened.

According to Bagheri, attacks against Iran would not only imperil its security but also destabilize the broader Southwest Asian region.

He highlighted that any miscalculation by adversaries could place the security of Israel and its allies in jeopardy.

Bagheri emphasized Iran's military readiness, asserting that its air defense systems remain fully operational despite suffering minor damage from Israeli strikes in the past.

He declared, "Iran's air defense is at peak readiness," and reassured that any previous damage had been adequately repaired.

In further remarks, Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Aerospace Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), reiterated Iran's resolve to conduct retaliatory operations against Israel.

He recalled past operations, particularly noting the expected execution of the upcoming operation dubbed True Promise III, which he stated is fully backed by public demand.

Hajizadeh also issued a dire warning regarding Iran’s nuclear facilities, claiming that any military action against these sites would provoke an uncontrollable conflict across the region.

He remarked, "A fire will break out in the region whose dimensions cannot be calculated," and stressed that Iran's adversaries are apprehensive about a direct confrontation.

Further emphasizing Iran's advancements in military technology, Hajizadeh claimed that the nation has transcended mere imitation in drone technology, asserting that other countries are now replicating Iranian designs.

These statements come in the wake of Israeli airstrikes targeting Iranian military installations last October, which reportedly utilized U.S.-controlled airspace over Iraq.

Although Iran's air defenses successfully intercepted some of the incoming strikes, the incident resulted in the deaths of five individuals, including four military officers and one civilian.

In light of these developments, Iranian officials have reaffirmed their commitment to proceeding with their planned military responses, including True Promise III, amid an escalating cycle of tensions in the region.
