Amman – In the wake of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Palestinian factions, Qatar has announced a major humanitarian convoy to assist the Gaza Strip.

Coordinated through the Qatar Fund for Development, in cooperation with the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, the convoy consists of 90 trucks carrying a total of 63,000 packages filled with essential food, medical, and humanitarian supplies.

This initiative continues Qatar's long-standing efforts to support Gaza, with recent escalations in October 2023 highlighting the urgent need for international assistance.

The convoy includes food parcels, each containing approximately 25 kilograms of basic food items, alongside hundreds of tents to house displaced families.

These efforts are part of Qatar's ongoing strategy to alleviate the deteriorating living conditions experienced by Gazans due to economic challenges exacerbated by ongoing political instability.

Nasser Ahmed Al-Jaber, the Public Relations Director at the Qatar Fund for Development, emphasized the organization's sustained commitment to delivering periodic humanitarian aid to Gaza.

He highlighted the collaborative efforts between Qatar and Jordan as pivotal in facilitating this humanitarian response.

The aid is expected to reach Gaza over the next three days, with logistical support provided by the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization.

Hussein Al-Shibli, Secretary-General of the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, praised Qatar’s efforts in a statement, underscoring the shared vision between Jordanian and Qatari humanitarian institutions to implement relief projects in Gaza and alleviate the region's hardships.

Since October 2023, the Qatari government has been involved in providing financial aid and infrastructure support to Gaza, including targeted projects for rebuilding homes damaged by conflict.

Additionally, Qatar launched a recent initiative to supply Gaza with over 12 million liters of fuel as part of the ceasefire agreement facilitated by a directive from Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar.

Qatar's ongoing aid efforts have been underscored by appeals from Qatari officials, including Minister of State for International Cooperation, Marium bint Ali Al Misnad, for increased regional and international cooperation to provide humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza.

Established in 2002, the Qatar Fund for Development leads the nation's international development and aid programs, focusing on supporting developmental and economic projects in Gaza and other developing regions.
