Saudi Arabia Condemns Israel's Blockade of Humanitarian Aid to Gaza

Riyadh denounces Israeli actions as violations of international law amid escalating humanitarian crisis.
Saudi Arabia has issued a strong condemnation of the Israeli government's recent decision to block the entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, labeling the action as 'blackmail and collective punishment' which contravenes international law.

In an official statement released on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized Israel's actions, highlighting the severe humanitarian crisis currently affecting the region.

The statement emphasized that these actions represent significant breaches of international humanitarian law.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia reiterated its appeal to the international community to address these grave violations, urging for the activation of accountability mechanisms and the assurance of sustained access to humanitarian aid for the affected population in Gaza.

This condemnation follows Israel's decision to prevent aid trucks from entering Gaza over the preceding weekend, which has heightened tensions surrounding a previously established truce that had managed to pause hostilities for approximately six weeks.

In parallel developments, Hamas has reached out to Egyptian and Qatari mediators, seeking their assistance in resolving the ongoing standoff.

On the Israeli side, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office reported that Israel has agreed to a proposal presented by US envoy Steve Witkoff concerning a temporary ceasefire during the overlap of the upcoming Ramadan and Passover periods.

Should this ceasefire be finalized, it is anticipated to halt hostilities until the conclusion of Ramadan, expected around March 31, and the Jewish Passover holiday, which begins on April 20.
