Turkey Calls for Israel to Cease Military Operations in Syria

Official statement from Turkey labels Israel as a primary threat to regional stability amid escalating military actions.
On Thursday, the Turkish government issued a statement condemning Israel for what it describes as the largest threat to regional countries, accusing it of fostering terrorism and chaos.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry called on Israel to stop undermining stability in Syria.

According to the statement, Israel's military actions threaten the territorial integrity and national unity of the region, raising questions about its opposition to developments in Syria and Lebanon that could potentially lead to stability.

The statement highlighted that Israel must halt its actions that compromise efforts toward establishing peace in Syria.

Recent airstrikes by Israel on Syria have drawn fierce responses.

The Syrian state news agency reported on Thursday that Israeli warplanes targeted military sites near the city of Al-Kaswah in the Damascus countryside.

Israeli jets reportedly struck the 75th Brigade near Al-Kaswah, following a series of strikes targeting multiple locations in Damascus, Homs, and Hama.

The Turkish foreign ministry further urged Israel to end its expansionist policies and withdraw from occupied territories to promote security in the region.

The ministry characterized Israel as a strategic destabilizer that fosters chaos and feeds terrorism.

Statements from Israeli officials have led Turkey to perceive them as reflections of aggressive policies stemming from a 'racist government.' The Turkish foreign ministry asserted that Israeli ministers cannot hide the genocide occurring in Gaza, stressing the importance of international responsibility in halting Israel's escalating aggression.

In a parallel development, an Israeli military spokesperson stated that operations in Syria are aimed at preserving the security of northern Israel and preventing the establishment of hostile forces in southern Syria.

The spokesperson confirmed that recent airstrikes targeted weapons sites posing threats to Israel.

According to reports, nine civilians were killed and 23 injured in a recent bombardment in the Daraa province.

The Israeli military acknowledged strikes on military capabilities in the Hama and T4 areas in Homs.

Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz warned that any entry of hostile forces into Syria would result in severe consequences, emphasizing that the Israeli Air Force's activities serve as a warning for the future and that Israel will not allow threats to its security.

Israel has conducted hundreds of airstrikes targeting Syrian military positions linked to Iran and the transfer of arms to Hezbollah, particularly since the ousting of former President Bashar al-Assad last December.

On Thursday, multiple Israeli airstrikes targeted military positions near Damascus.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that aerial operations had struck areas associated with the First Division near Al-Kaswah, although the extent of the damage was not immediately clear.

The Israeli military stated that their airstrikes serve as alerts to the new leadership in Damascus while accusing Turkey of attempting to impose its influence over Syria.

Following airstrikes, the Israeli military confirmed its intent to eliminate any threats to Israeli citizens.

The ongoing Israeli bombardments on Syria have prompted denunciation from the Syrian Foreign Ministry, which accused Israel of destabilizing Syria and prolonging the suffering of its people.

The UN Special Envoy for Syria, Geir Pedersen, criticized the increasing military escalation by Israel, warning that such actions might destabilize the region and violate international law.

He urged Israel to cease its attacks, respect Syria’s sovereignty, and adhere to established agreements regarding its military operations.
