Israeli Forces Near Completion of Gaza Mission Amid Heightened Tensions with Hezbollah and Growing Humanitarian Crisis

Israeli forces to shift focus to Lebanon after nearing Gaza mission completion amidst ongoing firefights with Hezbollah.
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant announced that Israeli forces are nearing the completion of their mission in Gaza and will shift their focus to the northern border with Lebanon due to ongoing exchanges of fire with Hezbollah.

This comes as the Israeli military released video footage of a Gaza tunnel where six hostages were killed by Hamas, amplifying public pressure on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to negotiate a ceasefire to secure the release of remaining hostages.

Meanwhile, on the French side of Mont Blanc, four climbers, two Italian and two South Korean, were found dead near the summit after adverse weather conditions over the weekend, a stark reminder of the dangers faced by climbers at high altitudes.

Back in Gaza, the humanitarian crisis worsens as UN humanitarian coordinator Muhannad Hadi described the dire conditions, saying Palestinians feel like "two million zombies" amid the devastating conflict, following thousands of casualties on both sides since the October 7 Hamas attack.

Despite these challenges, health officials in north Gaza have begun a final campaign to vaccinate 200,000 children against polio, driven by the urgent need to protect them, especially after a recent polio case paralyzed a baby for the first time in 25 years.

And finally, escalating violence in the West Bank has sparked international outrage after the deaths of 13-year-old Palestinian Bana Amjad Bakr and Turkish-American activist Aysenur Ezgi Eygi, prompting calls for investigations and bringing attention to the ongoing tensions in the region.
