Ustad Amjad Ali Khan to Perform in Riyadh for First Time, AR Rahman to Follow

The renowned Indian Sarod maestro will perform in Saudi Arabia for the first time, as part of a growing cultural exchange between India and Saudi Arabia.
Indian Sarod maestro Ustad Amjad Ali Khan is set to perform in Riyadh on February 6, marking his first-ever performance in Saudi Arabia.

The concert, titled 'Three Generations, One Melody,' will feature Khan alongside his sons Ayaan and Amaan, as well as his grandsons Abeer and Zohaan.

The performance is being organized by the Indian Embassy in Riyadh in collaboration with the Royal Commission for Riyadh City, as part of a growing cultural exchange under Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 initiative.

This vision, led by Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman, seeks to foster social and cultural liberalization within the Kingdom.

The event underscores the increasing popularity of Indian music, arts, and cinema in Saudi Arabia, as evidenced by the strong interest in the performance.

Dr. Suhel Ajaz Khan, the Indian Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, emphasized the significance of this event as a reflection of the deepening cultural ties between the two nations.

India’s cultural presence in Saudi Arabia spans across various domains, from cuisine to entertainment, with recent initiatives such as the Pravasi Parichay initiative in October 2024 showcasing India's cultural diversity.

Additionally, Indian actor Hrithik Roshan was recently honored at the Joy Awards in Riyadh.

Looking ahead, renowned composer and musician AR Rahman is also scheduled to perform in Riyadh next month, further cementing the cultural exchange between the two nations.

These events, including a ten-day-long Indian Cultural Festival held in Riyadh in October 2024, highlight the growing collaboration between India and Saudi Arabia, reinforcing their people-to-people ties and the immense potential of cultural diplomacy.
